I wouldn't go that far, as to suggest that any one president was responsible. It actually comes down to personal responsibility if you think about it.
It's an example of the horrific economic situation started by that sub-prime mortgage MESS...and companies across the spectrum having to tighten their belts because of it.
If not for the subprime mortgages and people buying more house than they can actually afford, the market wouldn't have been saturated with them, which means no housing bubble popping, no downturn in banks, less unemployment, and THUS, less of a problem for media.
Whew.
